Did you know that looking after your hearing can improve your health and well-being?

If the answer is ‘No’, you’re not alone!

A recent survey* of 2000 UK adults suggests a significant lack of awareness about the common links between untreated hearing loss and health.

67% of people are unaware that untreated hearing loss can contribute to early onset dementia. On top of that, over half (53%) said that they had no idea that hearing loss can cause depression and other mental health problems. Untreated hearing loss is also linked with diabetes, sleep problems, cardio-vascular disease & increased risk of falls.

Interestingly, the group with the least awareness were those aged 45-54; this is particularly important given that more than 40% of people over 50 have a hearing loss and this rises to over 70% for the over 70s.

However, 64% said they would be more likely to use a hearing aid if they knew about these links.

And the GOOD NEWS is that the majority of users say their hearing aids improved their quality of life and think they should have got them sooner!
