I must be mad, but I'm doing it again!! Not only raising more money for an incredible charity that links so closely to our everyday lives, but for the personal challenge and to (hopefully) improve my time from 2022!! So unbelievably grateful for ANY donations, but obviously also for the ongoing love and support.

When I was younger I used to do cross-country running but i didn't continue this into secondary school. I only started running again recently beginning with the Couch to 5K. Although running is something I did a lot as a kid, I never imagined I'd come back to it . After finishing Couch to 5K, I wanted to push myself further, so me and my girlfriend signed up for the Great North Run. Training for it and running it turned out to be an incredible experience, and I loved the feeling of crossing the line.

At the time I was certain I'd never want to run a full marathon. But a few months later I changed my mind. I realised that the London Marathon would be an amazing personal challenge and a chance to fully commit to something I could be proud of. And so when Hear Together offered me the chance to run it for them I knew it was something I had to do.

I am running for Hear Together to help support the hearing loss aid that the charity undertakes. I have had some close friends and relatives suffer from hearing impairment so would love to help. Additionally, I have close ties to the charity as my partner's mum works for them!

We have been visiting Hear Together with our daughter Evie since 2020, the group have been really supportive for us as a family and it helps to show Evie that she is not on her own and that  hearing loss is common, in fact there is a large community of people just like her, Hear together really help to reinforce that message and the support given to us as a family has been fundamental in helping Evie to accept her hearing loss and is also very important for her mental health.

The activities which are put on for Evie's group are amazing, ranging from making slime, treasure hunts in parks to ice skating and canal boat trips where the children really enjoyed opening and closing the locks, not to mention the Christmas party making their own advent calendars!

All of these fun things are subsidised by Hear Together and when the team asked if I would be interested in running the London Marathon for them I jumped at the chance, I have previously run the Birmingham to Black Country Half Marathon for Hear Together, this was hard and the marathon, I'm sure, will be much harder but I really want to do my part and help to repay their generosity by raising as much as I can to assist them going forward and helping the charity support other families as they have supported us!
