What’s play got to do with it

Speaker : Lyndsey Allen

Conference : Play and its link to literacy and theory of mind

Look inside classrooms 100 years ago and you’d see learning was a very serious affair, play was something that children experienced outside of school.
Now, we know children learn through interactions and realistic experiences. Researchers also agree that a play environment that is rich in literacy can develop early literacy skills within young children (Hall, 1991, p.3).
We’ll explore the theoretical relationship between play and literacy along with some ideas for putting it into practice.
